What we use:

We are using Home Assistant to run everything and control all or our lights, gadgets, etc.  Its been an on going labor of love, but the family loves it.  It makes life so much easier.

As with any projects there are a lot of things going on.  Below I will list everything we are using and links where they can be purchased, Along with write ups of how we do things.

Amazon Alexa - We use these to make announcement through the house and other locations, they come in very handy and you cant beat the pricing or the usefulness of them

ESP32 - these are used for the DIY'er to build custom electronic additions to fully customize your house

Kasa Smart Plugs - These are a great Wi-Fi controlled smart outlet that come in many flavors and have been a great asset to our home automation.
